Dreams upon dreams.
It has been 1,135 days since my feet have touched the dirt roads of Nepal. 1,135 days ago, I knew eventually I would come back to this land where I was leaving a big piece of my heart. Over six weeks in the summer of 2012, Nepal became home.
There has also been 1,135 days of struggles. There were tears and frustration. There was heartbreak. There was constant struggles, but there was also constant grace. Over these last 1,135 days, Jesus has given me my amazing husband + 3 of the most beautiful nephews ever. He has stretched and molded my heart, and did things in our lives that we couldn't have ever dared imagine. He brought some of the most amazing people into our lives to call 'friend' and continues to blow our minds with His grace and mercies everyday. In these days, we have learned how to dream. To dream so big it scared us + so big that God would have to come through. To dream of the things Jesus had for us. But, God has placed a dream in front of us so big we couldn't have come up with it on our own.
So what is our dream?
Our dream would be to reach + travel the world with our creativity + talents for the glory of Jesus and to make His name known. Our dream would consist of different cultures, languages and people groups. To be taken all over the world to spread the precious news of Jesus.
would you believe us if we told you we believe jesus has placed the first step in front of us?
I wouldn't either. But He has.
Founded in 2015 by Nina and Wes, The Beyond Workshop is a nonprofit organization that was created out of a desire to see thriving businesses continue to grow, in order to use their influence to change lives for the better . This workshop takes place in Nepal over a 12 day period. We learned of this workshop via a dear friend, Courtney. She knew my (Emilee) heart for Nepal and my passion for photography. We visited the website and fell in love with what we saw. Alex encouraged me to e-mail Nina with our questions to see where it went. One thing led to the next and we decided to take the next step and apply. With shakey hands, excited hearts, and anxious minds we applied. How would this come together? How in the world would we be accepted into a workshop that only accepts 14 photographers? How is this money going to come together?
The next day, we recieved the acceptance e-mail.
We will spend 12 days with a small group of photographers as we learn and grow with Nina and Wes. We couldn't think of a better way to learn or better people to learn under. The first half of our trip will consist of one-on-one sessions, styled photoshoots, group discussion + a whole lot of growing our business and creativity. The second half of our trip will be full of messy hands + dirty hair as we play with street kids, time spent with elderly, + work with non-profits. For those of you who know Alex and me, you know this couldn't be a better fit for us.
We will be there for a total of 3 weeks and we are beyond excited to see what could come of this opportunity. With all of this being said, we are pinching pennies as we prepare financially to set on this grand adventure. Every photoshoot + wedding we book will go directly towards our trip. As an extra means of income for our trip I have FINALLY decided to openly sell my calligraphy work. You can view some of my work and prices under the "Evergreen Designs" tab. (And tell all your friends, too!)
In 171 days, my feet will be back on those dirt roads. Not only will my feet be placed there, but Alex's will be planted next to mine. We couldn't have come up with this dream on our own. Only Jesus could have placed this in front of us. We could not be more excited to say 'yes!' and see where He leads.
